Ivy's Friends is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of disabled individuals by providing a place to swap needed supplies & equipment, get support and recommendations from people who understand and through the donations made by businesses in Inclusive Edge Family Sports Training and Therapy Complex, such as OG Skate Park, we want to provide therapy, essential adaptive equipment, inclusive educational and recreational classes, ramps, accessible vehicles and more. Our mission is to empower disabled individuals to lead fuller, more independent lives by removing financial barriers and fostering a supportive community. Through personalized care and innovative programs, we are making a tangible difference, one person at a time.
Gait trainers are very expensive, Insurance doesn't always cover them and children often grow out of them quickly. We've had a Facebook page for years- "Ivy's Friends" where people could give out equipment, swap medical supplies and give each other advice. ((It was mirrored after "Charlies Closet" that is ran by another Non-Profit, Charlies Champs. They are very dear to us!)) We're excited to not only have a safe space to swap these things but to also be able to buy new equipment and supplies for those in need.
Ivy Lee loves painting! We've heard from many professionals over the years that people like Ivy Lee, especially children, need as many experiences as possibly to do typical things because it helps brain development. Inclusive Edge wants to incorporate fun classes for parents and caregivers to bring their disabled loved one to paint, sing, play instruments, have slime parties, play with food textures, and more. We want to expand minds, grow new neuro pathways and overall allow everyone attending to find joy! Ivy's Friends hopes to provide many scholarships for these classes and more!
Six years ago, our lives took an unexpected turn with the traumatic birth of our daughter Ivy Lee. Faced with the prognosis that she may never walk, talk, or experience cognitive development, we defied the odds with unwavering love and determination. Ivy Lee, once deemed fragile, became the inspiration behind a journey of resilience and growth. In our pursuit of providing Ivy with a life filled with diverse experiences, we discovered her passion for extreme sports during an exhilarating skateboard ride at a local skatepark. Witnessing the fire in her eyes and the joy she experienced prompted us to explore the world of adaptive extreme sports. Attending a conference for kids with brain injuries, we recognized the universal love for vestibular input among children like Ivy. Inspired, we embarked on a mission to create a world-class training facility for Adaptive Extreme Sports—a haven where individuals, regardless of ability or disability, can thrive in the exhilarating world of extreme sports. With this life of ours we also daily see a need in the community for accessible equipment, therapy, classes, interactive play, disabled friendly activities and more. We decided that both the park and the non-profit could work together to help more people. OG Indoor Skate Park will donate 15% of it's profit to Inclusive Edge. We're committed to helping our community!
